It is believed that jealousy is a complex emotion unique to humans. However, dogs may also possess a similar emotion that evolved to protect their social bonds. In this study, the researchers investigated whether dogs experience jealousy using a method commonly used with human infants.

When dogs interact with humans, they can distinguish between intentional and unintentional actions. In a test, the dogs were put through three situations where they were not given a reward. In one situation, the experimenter intentionally withheld the reward, while in the other two situations, the experimenter accidentally didn't give the reward due to clumsiness or external factors. The dogs reacted differently depending on whether the experimenter meant to withhold the reward or not.

In this article, we like to hint at a study that examines the social determinants of health in companion dogs. The impact of each environmental factor varied, with social support having a much stronger effect compared to financial factors. Overall, the study highlights the importance of income, stability, and the owner's age in determining the health of companion dogs.
